The Unbearable story behind the brutal rape and attack of Miss Vera Uwalia Omozuwa that led to her premature death
Nigerians seek and demand for justice for the death of two young ladies that were killed out of wickedness
Last week on social media was literally brutal and quite ugly for many Nigerians as injustice is gradually become the order of the day. So last week, we heard about two ugly and painful stories about the injustice and violence that is being melted on Nigerian girls or rather women.
The first story was the story of a sixteen-year-old girl was shot dead by a drunk Nigerian police somewhere in Lagos.
The second story was the story of an undergraduate student Miss Vera Uwalia Omozuwa who was a 100 level microbiology student of UNIBEN was raped and abused by a rapist in her very own church while she went to read inside the church. The ugly incidence took place on Friday May 29th 2020 inside the Redeemed Christian Church of God in Ikpoba Hill, Benin City, Edo State where she went reading her books in preparation of the reopening of schools after the easing of the lockdown. She happens to be alone in the church reading when the rapist came in and attacked her by brutally raping her, smashing her head with a fire extinguisher and left her in her pool of blood to die.
According to the report gathered, it was noted that she didn’t died on the spot though but was rushed to the hospital to see if her life could be saved. She was admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU) she tried all her best to stay strong but couldn’t and gave up the ghost on May 30, 2020 after losing excess blood with deep cuts from the attack.
The ugly story got trending on the social media with a lot of sympathizers seeking for justice on behalf of the young lady and asking that all effort should be put in place to make sure that the person(s) behind that devilish act should be caught and dealt with. The campaign to seek for justice for both young ladies even got the tables of so many Nigerian celebrities as they also joined the rest of the masses to speak up and demand that justice should be served.
Even the story got to the ears and table of the Governor of Edo State and he promised to do all his possible best to find the culprit and punish the person for his evil deeds. Thankfully, the police have already started the investigation to unravel the culprit who is responsible and we strongly pray that the investigation will turn out positive.
