Osinbajo presides over 1st virtual NEC meeting

The first ever virtual meeting of the National Economic Council (NEC) took place at the Presidential Villa was presided by the Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo.

The meeting took place from the Yellow Room which happens to be the office of the Vice President, the meeting happens to be the fourth one for the year as the nation strives to contain the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The minister of finance was physically present in the meeting while the governors joined the Virtual NEC from their various states.

According to constitution, the vice president is the chairman of the NEC which summons monthly to discuss on the coordination of economic planning and programmes at various levels of government.

The NEC comprises of all the 36 states (FCT inclusive), Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria, Minister of Finance, Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Secretary to the Government of the Federation, and other relevant government officials whose duties hinged on the economy.
